Giving you the best of Montreal’s Urban community and beyond!
Here’s a look at some Urban events happening in our city this weekend!
This Thursday, Montreal rapper Roi Heenok will be performing at Cabaret Underworld. You can also enjoy performances from Saincere and Dee Lucci, BNG from Maarz Music and view Soldier Brand‘s Spring 2014 collection, all for $20.

Also this Thursday, at popular Saint Laurent club Club Soda, a major event will be taking place. The highly poetic, vocalist and pianist Catherine Major (see what I did there), will be headlining a concert which also features Les Gourmandes, a colourful group of four (4) talented, young women who write, compose, sing and incorporate beats, their hands and feet to make vibrant music.
The event page has further details including where to get tickets, so check it out!
Flood the gates at 7 pm, be seated/stood in place by 8 pm!
If you are in for a good ole fashioned Ska party, head on over to the event page and let them know you’re coming!
Stop by the cafe at 8 pm and get ready to bounce your head, swing your hands up and down and move your feet and hips from side to side!
Let’s slow down the tempo from Ska, as VIP Montreal Club, UCTV and Dope Party present Slow Wine Part 2 at Pure Nightclub (metro Berri) this Friday.
The event is FREE for women and $5 for men before 11 pm. Between 11 pm and 12 am, it’s $5 for women and $10 for men. See the page for details and to reserve VIP tables.
Interested in a night of live Funk music? The National Treasure Series presents BBAM! ENJOY and have a super-funk-tastic time!
This Saturday, it’s going DOWN at Le Belmont, as Real Life and FTP present Kings High, the Zero Gravity and Between Time album launch of the highly anticipated EP’s from CeasRock and Full Course respectively.
The night promises stellar performances not only from Full Course and Ceasrock but also from Montreal’s L.E.S., Northern Lights (NL5) and Chicago’s Mick Jenkins. The evening’s Host is none other than The Narcicyst and Simahlak will be spinning throughout the night. Special shout out to Mook Life, Escape MTL, Cult MTL, Labnoise and CKUT for their collaboration.

Support local urban talent!
As if this picture wasn’t a dead giveaway, it’s that time again for some Reggae fusion and Hip Hop at Descalso! with Clay and Friends! Catch the group and their friends at M Montreal this Saturday at 10 pm for live music and great tunes. They definitely know how to put on a show!
Let them know you’ll be passing through, here.
It’s a mere $5 at the door.
Also at BBAM! Gallery this weekend is BBAM! presents Gospel Blues with John Kerkhoven and Friends, BBAM!’s first Gospel Blues Sunday led by acoustic, blues singer and instrumentalist John Kerkhoven and also soulful Jazz and Blues performers Patrick Hutchinson and Paul Serralheiro.
The event is FREE however, drop whatever you can in the hat, to support the efforts of the musicians and time they’re taking to deliver these quality performances. This is an afternoon event from 3 – 4 pm, not 3:15 or 3:20, so try not to be late.
BBAM! Gallery is complete with a cafe offering a variety of coffees, lattes and the like as well as juices. For more on BBAM! Gallery, check out their website.
Blues and Gospel music, drinks and FREE; sounds like a great spiritual deal to me!
Last but certainly not least is the Expansoma Music, Art and Health Festival at Café Campus, also happening this Sunday! Come out to see The Ben Cardilli Band, The Fuzzy Bees, Who’s Driving & Engines of Peace and more for only $10 (in advance).
