Giving you the best of Montreal’s Urban community and beyond!
Here’s a look at some Urban events happening in our city this HALLOWEEN weekend!
Montreal United is an Open Mic event where rappers, singers or anyone who thinks they have talent that deserves exposure, gets to perform on stage. Held at Piranha Bar, for only $5, patrons can support the performers who give it their all.
Showtime is at 9 pm, and anyone who gets to the venue before 10 pm will have a chance to register and perform. After 10 pm, if there’s time, then unregistered performers may have a chance to show their skills.
This Halloween night, there’s an added bonus that the person with the best costume gets a bottle of Jack Daniels so carry some friends and show what you’ve got!
This Thursday October 31st, Halloween night, from 10 pm to 3 am, check out Nightmare on Main Street
in your costumes (or not) and fantastic music by DJ’s Shash’U, Grandbuda and Klyde Drexler and a special guest. Everyone gets in FREE!
Hip Hop, Halloween ambiance and goosebump drinks all night at The Blue Dog Motel sound like a spooky Halloween night to remember!
DJ and MC Nikkie and DJ Deemost will be blasting Hip Hop, Reggae, R&B and House music all night while patrons knock back $1 and $2 shots.
So have fun!
Rue Morgue presents The HORROR Halloween, the perfect Halloween experience if there ever was, at 10:30 pm at Cabaret Underworld. If the flyer wasn’t spooky enough then you’re sure to be ready for a night full of performances, costume contests, horror ornamentation of the highest order complete with special effects make-up by Remy Couture and of course, dum da da dum, DRINK SPECIALS! Not to be outdone by music from DJ Davidé from Cirque de Boudoir and DJ Philip Faith!

The second edition of the Jahpartement Session starts at 7:00pm at The Jahpartement!

Like what you’re reading? Then check out the event page for even more details! Irie?!
The event kicks off at 9:30 pm!

You’re probably thinking what can I do with a lowly loonie? Well the answer is here! The Loonie Jam: The $1 Old Skool Jam presented by Upscale Friday’s & UrbanAccess.ca is an event taking place at V-Lounge in LaSalle this Friday, for just ONE CANADIAN DOLLAR! The catch (you knew this was coming) is that the party costs one loonie ($1) BEFORE 1 am and ten loonies ($10) after. You also get a complimentary drink before 1 am so come out early!
DJ’s keeping the music going throughout the night are DJ Tribute, DJ Mike Tuff Williams, Selecta Jinx, Jeannie Cee, Brandon, Oohlalla and Anthony G.
Show starts at 10 pm!
The competition continues for who will throw THE best Halloween party this weekend and Candy Night: The Official Halloween Party seems like a strong contender. To all the sweets lover, always needing to satisfy your sweet tooth, this event is especially for you. Even the promoters, Class Night Productions, 2Much Entertainment and Friends, say that Diabetics should abstain. Now that’s some serious stuff!
The Club House – by Rosalie (Peel metro) will host this mega event which somehow costs only $10 (limited quantity). Each ticket affords you two (2) CD’s (Kompa and also Dancehall and Hip Hop) and you guessed it, CANDY. It runs from 10 pm to 3 am for ONE night only!
Let me try and paint a picture for you. Think lollipops, assorted candy, CHOCOLATES (my fave) and jujubes being offered in a space tastefully decorated like any chocolate shop worth its salt. The missing piece to the puzzle? YOU!
Limitless sweets and alcohol all night (ID required) look like the makings of a great night, plus a prize for the best costume (not mandatory) and other prizes just put the cherry on top.
DJ’s J Platinum D (Kompa & Du Zouk), DJ Shawtime (Dancehall and Hip Hop), DJ Ricko (Old School Jam) and DJ Nyce will serve up a sweet blend of Dancehall, Soca, Afro Beat, Zouk, Kompa Hip Hop, GNI and House music.
This event is neither for the faint at heart nor for those who can’t indulge in sweets all night. Get ready! *Cue* Foxy Brown and Kelis’ “Candy”!
For a night of Gospel, check out A Spiritual Deliverance Concert starring Trinidadian native Sister Bev, brought to you by Black Moses Productions at 6767 Côte-des-Neiges Rd, Montreal, QC H3S 2T6, (opposite the Côte-des-Neiges Plaza).
Showtime: 7:30 pm
If the Mary J. Blige hit immediately came to mind, then you should probably be at this event! It’s for all the R&B/Soul lovers out there who enjoy hearing stellar 90’s classics LIVE. Real Love Pt. 2: A Live 90’s R&B Jam is a welcome change when looking for events to attend on the Urban scene and it’s on its second run! Held at none other than Le Belmont, the venue that guarantees a complete experience, patrons can enjoy this soulful, live music event from 9 pm to 5 am. Yes, you read that correctly.
This Wyzah Musk and Over the Breaks collaboration stars vocalists like Fredy V, Sam I Am and Sarah MK, MCs and special guests Kalm Unity and Nomadic Massive! Also appearing is a new, local talent Rara Gaya. DJ Lexis will be spinning throughout the night and the live band including Anthony Pageot (Drums), Mark Haynes (Bass), Zach Frampton (Keys) and Christopher Cargnello (Guitar) will be sure to wow and please the soul.
Doors open at 9 pm, but showtime’s at 10:30 pm. You pay $10 at the door. ENJOY!!!
An evening of beats, friends and friends of friends sounds like Beat Battle Party happening at 215 Jean-Talon West on the 3rd floor at 10 pm. If you would like to hear crazy beats and spinning all night then keep reading (keep reading anyway).
Between 11 pm and midnight, teams beat battle. Each team (a pair) makes a playlist together that they believe can stand up to any playlist across the world. During the evening, each team will have one (1) minute to spin at a time. The crowd chooses by applause who moves on to the next round and who doesn’t. Winners receive a surprise gift. There can be up to eight (8) teams so don’t waste anytime in signing your team up on the events’ Facebook page.
After the beat battle, it’s full on party mode until 3 am and the best part about it is each person in attendance gets to hear a song they sent in to be played. You can send up to 3 songs in to be played on the night. So it’s kinda like dancing to your personal playlist at a party. Really cool! Send in songs you want to listen to during the event to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bring your own liquid heaven and a small contribution and peeps!
They haven’t forgotten about Halloween either, come out in your best or worst disguises but most of all, enjoy the beats!
Need more options? Ok I’ll keep going! Glow In The Dark: The Extra Hour Party is going down at Lamouche nightclub (Berri-Uqam metro) this Saturday from 10 pm – 4:15 am.
