Hip Hop Karaoke MTL “Back to School” Edition!
Let your inner Hip Hop performer OUT
ALL Concordia students enter free!
HIP HOP KARAOKE MONTREAL, in association with CJLO, ASFA and the CSU, brings you the Hip Hop Karaoke “Back to School” edition this Thursday September 19th! HHKMTL as the brand is affectionately called, will be hosting the biggest “Back to School” blow out Hip Hop style, at popular Le Plateau club, Le Belmont.
Each month HHKMTL brings Hip Hop lovers together, whether amateurs or professionals, for the common goal of having an enjoyable time while paying respects to the Greats of Hip Hop. For this particular staging, in keeping with the “Back to School” theme, ALL Concordia University students enter free, with proof of ID.
HHKMTL is an exceptional avenue for performers to express themselves through their favourite songs and experience what it’s like to be on stage and feel the electricity created between them and an expansive crowd! It’s no joke! Participants prepare and ultimately bring their A game. The event caters not only to the performers but also to audience members as two (2) persons are chosen at random to participate in the “What You Know About That” section, where they are grilled on their Hip Hop knowledge. This time around the winner stands to receive cool, street giveaways from collaborating sponsor WeSC.
If the music and performances weren’t good enough grabbers, then maybe your foodie side will be enticed by local Montreal chef Enzo’s scrumptious, homemade, cheddar, cheesy biscuits stuffed with tender BBQ/Jerk chicken and coleslaw for only $3. Great food coupled with drink specials being available all night? Sold!
Itching to perform? Well here’s how you do it! It’s simple!
- Sign up the contact form
- Send in your information and song choice; if the track is available it will be reserved for you
- They source the instrumental and send it to you with the lyrics so that you may have ample time to practice before the show
However, there are some key rules:
- No spittin’ the “N” word (find a creative alternative)
- No free styling or original material (keep it inclusive)
Think you’ve got what it takes? Go for it! If you get stuck, DJ Shash’U and Host for the evening D-Shade, will be there to help you get through it.
A friend and I previously attended HHKMTL and I left feeling such a sense of camaraderie. We cheered, laughed, screamed and felt like everyone in that room was there to support each other, celebrate Hip Hop and just have a good ‘ole time. It’s also a great starter for your weekend cocktail of activities!
So go with a friend or four (4) and let us know what you thought!
Doors open at 10pm; $5 before 11pm, $10 after
